6th Annual Seedling Swap and Sale
Eat Local Sudbury’s 6th Annual Seedling Swap and Sale is being held on Saturday May 27 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm as part of the Sudbury Gardening Festival.
The event is an opportunity for home gardeners to swap their extra seedlings (one-for-one) for a variety they don’t have or buy seedlings for $2-$6 each, with proceeds going to Eat Local Sudbury. Last year there was an excellent turnout and the event raised over $800 for Eat Local Sudbury.
Eat Local is looking for farmers and home gardeners to donate seedlings for the event (could even just be your extras) and hope you might be able to help out. Any and every type of vegetable and herb seedlings are popular at this event, plus Leisure Farms donates boxes of strawberry seedlings each year that are a big hit as well. Perennial plants and annual flowers would go over well too. Eat Local will promote participating farms and businesses in their media articles and on Facebook too, as well as hand out promo materials at the event.
Seedling donations can be brought to the Co-op Store 1-2 days before the event, or you can drop them off at Eat Local’s table (outside in front of the YMCA) in the morning on Saturday May 27th. The gardening festival starts at 9:30am but Eat Local will be there setting up by 8am.
